How to Abstract in Experience Abstraction
Trigger abstraction through isolation, prolonged darkness, or contact with an abstracted player. Each route works as its own condition.
Choose one route, keep its condition active, and avoid returning to a safe group or bright area while the effect builds. The transformation begins once your character stays exposed to the chosen condition.
Choose One Abstraction Route
Use isolation, darkness, or proximity to an abstracted player. You only need to complete one of these three conditions.
Use the Isolation Route
Move away from the main group and remain alone. Keep enough distance from other players for the isolation condition to keep building.
Use the Darkness Route
Enter a dark room or unlit section and stay there continuously. Returning to a bright area interrupts the darkness route.
Use the Abstracted-Player Route
Find a player who has already transformed and stay close to them. Moving away removes the proximity condition.
Maintain the Condition
Do not regroup, return to strong light, or leave the abstracted player while testing your method. Abstraction builds over time rather than from a single brief contact.
Complete the Transformation

Caine is tied to the post-abstraction event chain. Become abstracted, stay in that state, and remain in the session for the Caine sequence.
The Caine encounter happens after a successful abstraction rather than at the start of a normal session. Completing the sequence also opens the route into the Cellar.
Join an Active Session
Enter the experience and stay in the playable area with other users. The Caine sequence is tied to normal multiplayer gameplay.
Trigger Abstraction
Become abstracted by staying isolated, remaining in darkness, or spending time beside an already abstracted player.
Stay Abstracted
Do not reset your character or leave the server after transforming. The next event requires your character to stay in the abstracted state.

The Cellar is part of the post-abstraction Caine sequence. Complete the transformation, stay in the server, and follow the event through its final transition.
Reaching the Cellar requires the correct event order. It is tied to Caine dealing with an abstracted player, so searching for a normal Cellar entrance before transforming will not complete the route.
Complete an Abstraction Route
Use isolation, darkness, or proximity to an abstracted player, and hold the condition until your character fully transforms.
Do Not Reset
Stay as the abstracted character. Resetting, respawning, or leaving the server ends the event chain before Caine can continue it.
Trigger the Caine Response
Stay abstracted until Caine appears. The Caine event connects the initial transformation to the Cellar sequence.
Let the Sequence Finish
Stay connected and let the full Caine animation play. Leaving during the sequence stops the Cellar transition from completing.
Enter the Cellar Transition
The completed event sends the abstracted character into the Cellar area. Follow the cutscene instead of searching for a standard door or staircase.
Restart a Failed Route
